Detectors/
Sensors

How many detectors/sensors can be connected to the master module?

Up to 100 detectors/sensors.

Where should I place my sensors?

Sensors should be placed near all potential leak sources.

E.g. the dishwasher, toilet, washing machine, faucet

Are some cables designed to also detect leaks?

Yes, you could install a twisted-pair cable that connects the detector to the sensor. This cable is a sensor in itself. It will detect any leak as soon as it comes into contact with water.

What should I do with a sensor if it gets immersed in water?

First of all, stop the leak. Once the leak is fixed, silence the alarm on the master module. You can then dry off the sensor and test it to ensure its proper function.

What is the sensor’s purpose?

The sensor is designed to detect a potential water leak. Once a leak is detected, it will send a warning signal to the master module, which will shut off the main water valve.

What is the detector’s purpose?

The sensor is connected to the detector, which will send the signal to the master module.

How can I test the sensor for proper function?

Simply wet your fingers and place them on the metal plates on both sides of the sensor. An alarm should go off.

How can I make sure that the detector has reconnected to the master module once I replaced the detector’s batteries?

You can always test the detector by wetting your fingers and placing them on the metal plates on both sides of the sensor. This should sound off an alarm.

Otherwise, you could always press the “SYNC” button on the master module. You will have 30 seconds to press both buttons “Close/Open” simultaneously on the detector. If the sensor is already connected, the master module will display: Already Synchronized, along with the number of the detector.

How much water does it take to trigger the sensor?

As soon as one of the sensor’s metal plates comes into contact with water, it will signal an alarm.

How can I synchronize my detectors?

Simply press the “SYNC” button on the master module. You will have 30 seconds to press both buttons “Close/Open” simultaneously. Once synced, the number of the detector will appear on the master module.

How can I name a detector according to its location? E.g. dishwasher.

On your master module, press the “A” key and enter this function “8888.”

Use the “*” key on the bottom right corner on the master module to scroll down the list of choices. Once your choice is made, press the “#” key to confirm the chosen name.

Once a leak is detected, is it possible to find out which sensor detected the problem?

Yes, the master module will tell you which sensor detected the leak.

Valves

How many valves can be installed?

Up to 10 valves.

How can I reopen the main water valve after a leak?

Press the “WATER” button twice on the flashing master module to reopen the automated valve electronically.

If you only press the button once, you will ONLY silence the ALARM and the water button will stay red.

How can I make sure the valve is properly closed?

You can check this by using any water source in the home, like a kitchen faucet. If the water does not run out once you turn on the faucet, the valve is properly closed.

How can I make sure that the valve is really open?

You can check this by using any water source in the home. For example, if you turn on your kitchen faucet and the water runs out, that means your valve is open.

How can I shut off the automated valve electronically?

Press once on the “water” button on the master module. A red light will start flashing and then turn permanently red.

How can I manually open/close the automated valve?

You will need a clamp/slot screwdriver to pull the white button from the top of the valve. Then, use the clamp or your fingers to turn the button. You will see a red line change position on the screen located on top of the valve. When the red line is perpendicular to your valve, this means the valve is closed. If the line is parallel to your valve, this means the valve is open.

Please note: if the red line does not move positions, the white button was not pulled enough.

Batteries

How do I replace the batteries in the detectors?

Push on the circle located on the top of the detector. This will enable you to remove the compartment lid that covers both AAA batteries.

How do I know if the batteries are low?

Your master module will tell you when it is time to replace the batteries in the detectors that indicate low battery power. However, if you wish to take extra precautions, you can always replace your batteries every 6 months. (Every time you change your clocks.)

Do not forget to confirm the detector by pressing the “Close/Open” buttons simultaneously to synchronize it.

Maestro or Galaxy

How long does a battery last?

We cannot say precisely how long a battery will last, so we suggest replacing the batteries every time you change your clocks twice a year.

Master
Module

How can I reset my master module?

Remove your master module from the wall by disconnecting all wires. You will then need a small Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 4 screws located in the 4 corners. This step will allow you to remove the battery from the master module to reset it.

Does the master module require a 110v power outlet?

We suggest connecting the master module to a 110v power outlet. This way, your batteries will only be used as a backup power source in case of a power outage.

How can I find out which leak detection model I have?

Simply unhook your master module and look on the back panel. The model will be shown.

Can I change the lock code?

Enter the code “A9999.” Enter the current password and then enter your new password. You will be asked to enter the new password again to confirm it.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE NEW LOCK CODE AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE. THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD IF EVER YOU FORGET IT.

Can I lock my master module?

Yes, you may lock your master module by pressing the “A” key then “4321.” This will prevent any inadvertent manipulation. However, if a leak is detected, you will only be able to silence the alarm. You will have to enter the code to reopen the water valve.

Email
Alert

When a leak is detected, is it possible to receive an email alert?

Yes, if you own the Galaxy Leak Detection System, it will allow you to configure an email address. A notification will be sent via email when a leak is detected.

How long does it take before the email notification is sent?

You should receive an email within 1 to 3 minutes.

Can I test the email notifications?

You could always simulate a water leak to see if the email notifications work. You will also find out how long it takes before you receive the email.

Can I configure several email addresses?

Yes, you can enter a list of email addresses in the CC field. We suggest configuring the email of at least another person who could take action if a leak were detected.

E.g. a family member, friend, person in charge of maintenance.

Maintenance

What are the system’s maintenance requirements?

Not much maintenance is required. You should, however, make sure to check that the master module is well connected and replace the batteries every time you change your clocks twice a year.

Power
Outage

What happens with the leak detection system during a power outage?

As long as the batteries in your master module and sensors are fully charged, the system will work properly to detect leaks. However, if you have the model with the battery-operated valves, you will need to shut off the valve manually if you wish to close it.

What happens when your internet connection cuts off?

If the internet connection does not work properly, the system will continue to work normally and will shut off the valves automatically. However, email notifications will not be sent.

Module
Galaxy

How do I connect the Galaxy to my Internet provider (Wi-Fi network)?

Use this function: “A1000.” All the networks detected will appear on the display screen. Choose your network by scrolling down with the “*” key and confirming your choice with the “#” key. You will then be prompted for your password.

How can I add or change my email address for the primary email in the A field?

Enter “A1001,” and delete any text that appears after A: Then, enter your personal email address.

How can I add or change my email address for the secondary address in the CC field: email@gmail.com

Enter “A1001,” and delete any text that appears after CC: Then, enter your personal email address.

How can I make sure that my email address was configured properly?

Enter “A1003,” and an email notification will be sent to the email addresses in the A: and CC: fields.
