Guide and tips

Where should you install your heat pump?

Are you about to install a heat pump in your home? Have you determined where you will install the indoor and outdoor units? Here are a few tips that can help guide you.

When it comes to the outdoor unit, you’ll need to find out if there are any municipal rules that apply to heat pumps. This may seem unnecessary, but it will save you hardships in the future if your installation doesn’t comply with municipal codes.

As for the indoor unit, it should be placed on an exterior wall near the outdoor unit to ensure a shorter connection. But most importantly, the indoor unit must be located in a strategic area that will allow the device to cover as much square footage as possible in your home. Our multi-zone systems are ideal for homes with no ventilation ducts, multiple floors or complex layouts. You must also take into account the manufacturer’s specifications as to the free space required around the unit. Finally, the indoor unit should not be exposed to the sun.
